Ze worden ook wel Herb\u00f3n-paprika&#8217;s genoemd. Ze hebben de naam te danken aan de gemeente Padr\u00f3n in de provincie La Coru\u00f1a in Galici\u00eb, Spanje, waar ze vandaan komen.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Vroeger was het seizoen van de Padr\u00f3n-paprika in Galici\u00eb alleen eind juni tot september, maar nu kunnen de boeren dankzij kassen deze beroemde peper het hele jaar door verbouwen.<\/p>\n\n<p>Deze Spaanse pepers zijn populair om een heel coole reden: ongeveer tien tot 25 procent van de Spaanse padr\u00f3n pepers zijn heet, en de rest niet &#8211; en dat zie je pas als je er een in je mond hebt gestopt!  <\/p>\n\n<p>Er is zelfs een Galicische manier om dit te beschrijven: &#8220;Os pementos de Padr\u00f3n, uns pican e outros non&#8221; (wat betekent &#8220;Padr\u00f3n-paprika&#8217;s, sommige zijn heet, andere niet.&#8221;) Een andere gaat als volgt: &#8220;&#8221;Pimiento de Padr\u00f3n, peque\u00f1o pero mat\u00f3n&#8221; (wat ongeveer betekent &#8220;Padr\u00f3n-paprika, klein maar een killer.&#8221;).<\/p>\n\n<p>Hoe is dit mogelijk? Het hangt allemaal af van de hoeveelheid water en zonlicht (plus andere factoren) die elke peper tijdens zijn groei krijgt.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Wat betreft het uiterlijk zijn Spaanse padr\u00f3n-paprika&#8217;s ongeveer 5 centimeter lang. Deze pepersoort meet 500 tot 2.500 Scoville Heat Units op de Scoville Schaal, wat over het algemeen als mild wordt geclassificeerd. Enkele van de hetere soorten in vergelijking met pimientos de padr\u00f3n zijn jalapenos (3.500 tot 4.500 SHU) en serrano (7.000 tot 25.000 SHU).<\/p>\n\n<p>Maar wees voorzichtig, zoals ik hierboven al zei: in een bosje Padr\u00f3n-pepers zit ongeveer tien tot 25 procent dat je zeker zal verrassen omdat het heter is dan verwacht!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hoe_eet_je_Padron-paprikas\"><\/span>Hoe eet je Padr\u00f3n-paprika&#8217;s?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>Er zijn genoeg Padr\u00f3n peper recepten te vinden. De meesten eten Spaanse Padr\u00f3n pepers als tussendoortje. Padr\u00f3n- en Shishitopepers lijken echter op elkaar, vooral als ze gekookt zijn.
